This morning as the sun was rising over the Orange river; all four of us was still fast asleep.. Nobody woke before six o’clock.. When the first blankets did start rustling, the morning star was already faded away; and the bird choir was in full swing.. We rose, fed the horses, and very slowly proceeded to brew a cup of coffee; enjoyed of course with a generous helping of rusks..

Marais (finally awake) and Hans left for church in Luckhoff; just after we had Bible study and some prayer time.. Whilst JanPaul and Gert stayed behind to tend to the horses; and to start reaching out to the other people at Sandgat.. The horses was enjoying the green grass fervently; so much so that we had to run after them quite a few times; as they were charging around trying to consume it all..

The kids in the campsite enjoyed the horses thoroughly, and we had to lead them around in circles for quite some time.. When the two came back from church; we had some brunch (pap and biltong) and started to clean our equipment.. And after that made preparations for a serious Sunday afternoon nap.. Hans and Marais in hammocks on the island where all three horses were grazing; JanPaul cuddling with Zadok (who was fully enjoying the rest day, sprawled on the grass); and Gert perched under a willow tree, looking at the entire team enjoying their afternoon nap..

The rest of the day was spent in preparations and planning; as well as re-organizing the trailer and bakkie, in order to make our lives more comfortable..

We did however go out for a stroll with the horses just before sundown; Hans on Braveheart, while Gert was tagging along, camera in hand.. And what an amazing sight it was.. We walked all the way into the middle of the wheat fields, with the irrigation on, and the sun setting over the mountains – it truly was a majestic, breath-taking, picturesque moment..

After chatting with Tannie Lisa’s brother-in-law, Tools, and his friend Charlie; we went back to camp.. Enjoying a proper meal; with steak, bread, and even salad (kind of)..

We are really going to miss this place; were already starting to feel at home.. Sandgat is honestly a very lekker place; with great people..

But alas, tomorrow morning we are getting up at four; setting out once again, further on our trip down to the coast.. Excited for what is yet to come.. Thankful for all God has given to us so graciously thus far..
